TA-GVHD Consequences

TA-GVHD Consequences for Transfused Patient

TA-GVHD can damage organs such as bone marrow, skin, liver and the gastrointestinal tract. TA-GVHD survival is rare with a mortality rate approaching 100%, with death typically occurring within the first three weeks of symptoms. With this high mortality rate, and the lack of an effective treatment for TA-GVHD, it is critical that TA-GVHD be prevented where possible.
