ATMF 2015 Themed ‘Patient Blood Management’

Dr. Faten Moftah, president of the Arab Transfusion Medicine Forum (ATMF), and former head of the Egyptian National Blood Transfusion Services (NBTS), visited the INTERCEPT™ booth at the 12th ATMF exhibition. The event was held from 20 to 23 November in Cairo, Egypt.

A workshop moderated by Dr. Kamel Bukef and Dr. Salwa Hindawi on haemovigilance addressed the need for active monitoring of transfusion-related adverse events.

The ATMF was established in 2004. The project was initiated by Dr. Gamal Gabra and assisted by Dr. Faten Moftah, Dr. Magdy ElKiaby, and Dr. Salwa Hindawi. The goals of the ATMF are to:

  • Educate professionals in transfusion medicine at all levels and provide an update on professional issues
  • Establish a professional forum for training, staff development and sharing experience in a structured manner on a regular basis
  • Provide regional opportunities for individual development for staff working in transfusion medicine and who are not able to attend and participate in formal regional activities and international meetings.
