Pathogens of Concern

Besides bacteria and the best-known viruses (HIV, HBV, HCV), newly-emerging pathogens such as dengue, chikungunya, West Nile and Zika virus are of the highest concern, as are protozoa including Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas’ disease), Plasmodium falciparum (malaria), Babesia (Babesiosis), and Leishmania.
